Add a source

Source name / title

For example: “County zoning office: orchard event use” or the exact title and section of an official rule.

Authority type

Jurisdiction

Use Federal for federal sources, or the state of the issuing state or local office.

County / municipality (optional)

For county ordinances and other local sources.

Official URL

Link to the official text itself, not a summary page.

Date read or contacted

Record when you read the source or spoke to the office; an effective date belongs in the note.

Question, answer, and source passage

Include the section or page, what you asked, the facts supplied, any exception, and what the office actually said. Mark your own summary as a summary. For example: “Asked about six event days; office requested a site sketch. Use category not yet confirmed.”

Person or office contacted

For a website, you can record who saved it. For a call, record the person and office that answered.

Research status

Choose the status of your own research. “Not yet confirmed” is useful; not finding a rule does not establish that none applies.

Next action and date
