Farm Event Research Planner

Describe a planned farm event once, and this tool returns a research plan: the guides to read, the rule topics to check, the official state offices to contact, and neutral questions to ask each office. Start with the state and activity; add whatever details you know. You will get questions to take to the responsible offices, with available guide citations. The plan does not grant permission to operate.

With JavaScript, these tools keep your event details, notes, and checklist in this browser tab so you can move between them. Download a copy to keep it. Clear your research when using a shared device.

Describe the event

For example: an orchard open on four Saturdays, with apple picking, wagon rides, and a food truck. Describe each feature even if the primary activity covers only one. Write “not planned” where useful; leave unknown details blank.

Your earlier answers remain available to download while editing. Building a plan for a different location, activity, or federal guide starts new response fields so an answer is not attributed to a different office or event. Download your notes first. Your manual source entries and checklist remain in this tab. Removing a federal guide rebuilds the plan with the state’s sources.

Federal guide selected: EPA Agricultural Worker Protection Standard. Its available citations and open questions will be included.

Choose the state where the property is located.

County where the property is located (optional).

City, township, or village (optional).

Optional. Enter only what you want in the plan; the address is not looked up or sent to an agency.

Choose the activity closest to the event you are researching.

For example: four Saturdays in October, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; setup on Friday.

Include the most people present at once as well as the total, for example 80 at a time and 250 over the day.

For example: visitors enter a storage barn; one 20-by-40-foot tent; no new construction. Include existing uses.

Describe entrances, parking spaces, overflow, buses, and emergency access; note any road name you know.

List the food and seller, for example whole apples, cut-apple samples, or a food truck preparing sandwiches.

Who buys, supplies, serves, and charges for drinks? Include guest-supplied drinks or drinks bundled with a ticket.

Animal contact areas, rides, wagon rides, and amusement devices.

Overnight stays, tents, cabins, or campgrounds.

List tasks, ages, hours, and pay, for example two paid parking attendants and family members driving wagons.

Whether minors will attend, work, or participate, and how.

Signage, lighting, amplified sound, and fireworks.

What happens to what I enter?

Submitting this form sends the event details to Farm Rulebook to create your plan; the site does not save them to an account or database. With JavaScript, a copy stays in this browser tab so the other tools can use it. Notes added in the tools stay in your browser. Your address is not looked up, and nothing is sent to an agency. Download or print what you need, and clear the tab’s research on a shared device.
